Some friendly advice to folks new to the conference submission game: everybody gets some submissions rejected. I did today. It’s normal and expected. Keep doing the best work you can, don’t get too high or too low, learn from every decision, and push on. #AERA2026

Dr. McNutt offered a sobering yet inspiring perspective on the current landscape of science in America. While she did not shy away from the challenges we face, she also provided several thoughtful and actionable steps we can take to strengthen our nation’s scientific enterprise and global standing.

I realize broad science-literacy problems cannot generally be solved just by shoving more facts at people but I really wish more people understood that the entire purpose and mechanism of a vaccine is to educate your OWN immune system, making it about the most "natural" medical intervention possible

Just to give the TL;DR on this one:

*The* main purpose of the EO is to move funding priorities and decisions away from experts and career professionals over to political appointees. With the ultimate power held by Vought / OMB.

Claiming to have β€œlistened to the experts” rings hollow when the leading voices behind mRNA research were dismissed, discredited, or outright ignored. That’s not science-based leadership β€” that’s selective hearing.
