If you ever happen to have written something negative about Trump in a messaging app, don't go to the US. You could be randomly detained as a terrorist. (so unfortunately, no US-based conference for me in the next 4y at least)

Clever study that explores the debate between those who claim that color categories are 'innate' and those who argue that they are dependent on language. It turns out that monkeys, unlike humans, do not have consensus color categories, suggesting cognitive mechanisms such as language are required.🧪🧠

Spent the day playing with Phi4, the latest open LLM from #microsoft. Smallish (14B) & impressive. We can now run a GPT4-class model on the edge with top power use <40W on consumer grade HW. Interestingly, I got comparable perfs on a nvidia jetson Orin AGX and on my LunarLake Intel CPU (4-5 tok/s)

If there's interest, I could do a short presentation of each node/tool in following-up posts. Let me know!

I've also written a few fun tutorials like 'from zero to interactive in 3h' ros4hri.github.io/ros4hri-tuto... (if you're coming to #hri #hri2025, we've got a tutorial accepted!)

Talking about #ros4hri, it is going strong, with 15+ #opensource #ROS 2 nodes available, from 3D face/skeleton detection to expression recognition, probabilistic data fusion, visualization, etc. wiki.ros.org/hri

Spent the last days coding a simple #ROS 2 simulator for interaction/semantic reasoning/LLM-based chatbots. Fun to be looking back at the kind of stuff I was doing during my PhD 14+y ago 😅 all #opensource and #ros4hri compatible. Ping me if you want to play with a Docker image!
