I continue to track the number of bird species I’ve seen or heard while out on foot from home.

Rather predictably February slowed right up. Two additions, Fieldfare & Spoonbill, take me to 109.

Feb attempts for Dipper, Dartford Warbler & Goshawk failed

Out along Exeter Canal. 11km run from home up the river and back along the canal. Lovely morning. Bird song all the way.

1/3 We all like to run alongside rivers, following muddy trails, cycle paths and pavements.

Taking time to stretch the legs & appreciate the wildlife, the blue flash of a Kingfisher, the yellow flowers of the water lilies.

But as we run we notice the impacts of pollution & waste. A global issue.

Running for our rivers.

John Mildmay-White is running 600km over 10 days to raise funds for Wild About The Erme.

The funds will enable their scientifically-qualified all-volunteer team to undertake the testing needed to identify the types, and potentially the sources, of pollution of the R Erme.

Love that feeling of spring being on the way.

Bar-tailed Godwits

A walk around town this morning. Good to see a flock of 78 Bar-tailed Godwits and 50 Knot off the Goat Walk. Good opportunity to test my new light weight scope & tripod set up.

After the birthday breakfast, it was up to the moors for a family walk & pub lunch. Great loop from Kestor Inn. Two years ago today it snowed on this walk. Today it was warm.

Pre birthday breakfast run to Powderham & back.

In the spring I sometimes count the singing warblers while 🏃🏻. Today 7 Cetti’s & 3 Chiffchaffs. Lots of nest building at the heronry & singing Firecrest nr home.

Resetting all running PBs as I enter a new decade 😜 so set new HM PB today for my 60s.

Finally added to my #FootIt list with Fieldfare this morning 👍🏻
