No doubt Iβve run up that lane (unless itβs private) as Lympstone falls well within the OS map centred on my house.
Birdlife will have changed a lot since 1967. Spotted Flycatchers gone, Firecrests moved in.

Back from Woodbury - a 14km run home. Just light enough to run along the footpaths and lanes. A Firecrest called near Venmore Farm, my 1st in that 1km square.
A quick lap of the headland at Lympstone before heading up the estuary.

Fascinating study of USA citizensβ understanding of climate change & communication.

I spent the end of the light at Bowling Green Marsh watching waders & ducks.
Three small distant stints gave me the run around. Eventually decided all three were Little. Also 2 Ruff & Green Sand among the masses.
Beautiful light on the walk home.
Three walks, one run. Great day.

βWhen I heard about the conditions these penguins are kept in, from the Daily Express, a couple of years ago, I was shocked. It's unbelievable actually. I think if we need to boycott Merlin to make them change what they do, we should do that.

No birding highlights. Couldnβt hear anything in the wind and I couldnβt see far through my rain covered glasses.
103km of running ππ» for the week is my biggest week for a long time.

Walk around town in the rain.
Single Spoonbill looking fed up on Bowling Green Marsh, where Teal were the most numerous species.
Took advantage of the newly refurbished Clyst Estuary viewing platform. Spotted Redshank, Grey Plover & Common Gulls.
Now to get ready to run.

West Exe - spent the morning birding around Dawlish Warren before running 25km from home to Teignmouth in the afternoon. Plenty of time on feet.
Impressive sea at Dawlish.
Birding highlights: Firecrest & Eiders at DW, Cattle Egrets at Powderham

Running in squares - I mostly keep my exploration local, whether running, walking or birding (many activities involve all three). Low carbon adventures from the front door.

A single Garganey among Teal, Wigeon, Shoveler & Pintail.
Evening high tide - Bowling Green Marsh. Ended the day watching the ducks & waders.
Highlight was picking out a single Garganey among the mass of Teal. A smart 1st year bird, it was rarely in view.
Also 3 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Ruff, 1 Spotted Redshank. Impressive count of 42 Gadwall
