I signed this to prevent the State Library of Victoria (one of my favourite places on earth) from becoming a fun park. It's a library and it needs librarians! In 2025, spaces like this have never been more vital.

Please read this & help save the State Library of Victoria, entering its 'now fully trashed' era. I didn't go to uni - for me the Library was higher education in later life, research for my job, a revelation about what ordinary people could have access to. It changed my life. Not just a building.

SLV is a beautiful, useful and very busy research space, and I use it regularly. I hope that they rethink these cuts & recognise that the library is so much more than a tourist destination.
