A foundation model of transcription across human cell types - Nature A foundation model learns transcriptional regulatory syntax from chromatin accessibility and sequence data across a range of cell types to predict gene expression and transcription factor interactions...

For single cell foundation model fans, Raul Rabadan & colleagues just published GET in @nature.com, which trained on chromatin accessibility data to predict transcription factor interactions/motifs, cis-regulatory elements, & gene expression from 213 human cell types

Paradoxical link between senescent cell state and liver cancer resolved DNA damage caused by a high-fat diet can increase the risk of tumour formation in the liver.

First 2025 metabolism publication in @nature.com is from Michael Karin's group, finding that metabolic hepatosteatosis promotes senescence of hepatocytes, but is bypassed through transcriptional inactivation of FBP1, a novel gatekeeper against hepatocellular carcinoma

The structure of apolipoprotein B100 from human low-density lipoprotein - Nature Nature - The structure of apolipoprotein B100 from human low-density lipoprotein

The other by Zach Berndsen and Keith Cassidy took a novel approach by using AF2 and MD to look at how the many beta-sheets dynamically coordinate for different lipoprotein sizes (LDL vs VLDL).

Structure of apolipoprotein B100 bound to the low-density lipoprotein receptor - Nature Cryo-electron microscopy structures of apolipoprotein B100 (apoB100) in complex with the LDL receptor (LDLR) provide insight into binding interfaces and explain how mutations in apoB100 or in LDLR can...

One by Joe Marcotrigiano and colleagues were able to visualize apoB-bound LDL with a ligand-binding domain of the LDLR, giving insight in to the binding and internalization of LDL particles

Two studies published recently in @nature.com proposed cryoEM structures of the lipoprotein apoB. Some of the biggest protein-lipid complexes ever visualized and some cool insights into lipoprotien bio.
