A tropical rhododendron with red flowers and dark, almost black anthers.

Rhododendron 'Birat Red' is a somewhat mysterious vireya collected more than 50 years ago in a remote region of Papua New Guinea by an Anglican missionary with a botany degree from Cambridge. No one seems to know if it is a natural hybrid or undescribed species. 🌱 🌴

First Crush, a floribunda rose, displays one of her large blooms in early June of last season. The blooms are so large they almost fill the inside palm of my hand. The soft pink color feels tranquil. This could be in a bridal bouquet or perhaps gifted to a dancer after a performance. The flower holds on to some of the morning dew with water droplets resting on the outside petals like jewelry 💖
