A tropical rhododendron with red flowers and dark, almost black anthers.

Rhododendron 'Birat Red' is a somewhat mysterious vireya collected more than 50 years ago in a remote region of Papua New Guinea by an Anglican missionary with a botany degree from Cambridge. No one seems to know if it is a natural hybrid or undescribed species. 🌱 🌴

A collage of six photographs of flowers, comprising: a pale pink six petalled Hellebore with dark purple at the centre and creamy large stamens; two spires of electric blue/purple star-like Hyacinth flowers edged with pale blue stripes; a cluster of dainty white Daffodil flowers with short orange trumpet-like centres, covered with dew; a bright glossy yellow petalled lesser celandine flower with yellow stamens & dark glossy black leaves; a twig covered with small white blossom with slightly pink centres; two pale blue star-like Chionodoxa flowers with dark blue stripes.

I’ve been trying to ID this one of mine, which seems similar, but the non-variegated blooms in mine seem pinker.
A post from last year; it’s still emerging

First Crush, a floribunda rose, displays one of her large blooms in early June of last season. The blooms are so large they almost fill the inside palm of my hand. The soft pink color feels tranquil. This could be in a bridal bouquet or perhaps gifted to a dancer after a performance. The flower holds on to some of the morning dew with water droplets resting on the outside petals like jewelry πŸ’–
