Apparently light pollution is awful for them, which makes sense.

06.03.2026 02:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I remember catching them in the summer in Texas and Alabama in the '70s. Seemed like there were millions of them. Can't think of the last time I saw one.
06.03.2026 01:31 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well now I want to know the other two!
04.03.2026 12:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hah. Hancock left a safe seat for this. And now the seat has (at least temporarily) flipped blue.
04.03.2026 02:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Update: wife voting tonight and said they now have six machines for the Dems.
04.03.2026 01:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Did this morning!
04.03.2026 00:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But not every place has separate lines. We used to have one line, but you checked in at separate tables. Now the whole thing is separated. Maybe not ideal in highly partisan times?
03.03.2026 23:12 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Yes in this county they are.
03.03.2026 22:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think that's where I voted, and part of the issue was they had way more GOP machines than Dem ones (8 vs 2). At least that was true early today. (I think election workers were trying to fix it.) That hyper red area was not ready for Dems to turn out.
03.03.2026 19:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Problem was access code was invalid after 30 minutes, which would me reprocessing all voters. Election workers were great and were trying to get more machines, but it all shows how bureaucratic decisions make voting harder or easier, and they went harder (for Dems). 2/2
03.03.2026 16:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not claiming conspiracy, but my voting place in Tarrant County this morning had ten voting machines. Eight were for the GOP primary, while only two were for Dems. It's a very red area, so I get some split, but Dems were piling up, while GOP were sailing through. 1/2
03.03.2026 15:44 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0But at this moment, the answer is Submarine Bells.
03.03.2026 01:21 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have listened to at least four of these in the past year.
03.03.2026 01:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have not thought about that band in probably 30 years.
03.03.2026 01:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Damn.
03.03.2026 01:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm not sure I could resist watching that.
02.03.2026 22:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It makes sense that this would be the trajectory of the Texas GOP.
02.03.2026 16:05 β π 18 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That chain is one of the good reasons to keep living in Texas.
01.03.2026 18:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Balkaning up?
01.03.2026 02:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Whatever new mama needs.
01.03.2026 00:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Let's hope the energy and outrage continues through November. Maybe we end up with a state Dem party with a pulse.
28.02.2026 00:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Congrats!

26.02.2026 12:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I used to have to watch these for my job. That was the Clinton years. I don't think I've seen one since. My life has not suffered.
24.02.2026 23:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 05200 words on redoing old songs for no good reason, the deadly scourge of "indie folk," pop's middle class, listening to sped-up music on purpose, jazz revisiting century-old music, a kind of music somebody named "futurismus" and maybe they weren't even joking, and my 150 favorite albums of 2023.

Curl up somewhere warm and listed to Los Lobos. They lifted my mood today.
