So much for writing this week… I got a cold and decided I wasn’t up to joining my writing buddy for our session at fhe coffee shop this week 😭 (it is very hard for me to write without leaving the house usually)

Edit: I KNOW I gotta keep going but its hard to finish what I know will change

The further I get into writing my novel the harder it is to resist the urge to start editing what I’ve already written. There are so many things I know need to be fixed to make the pacing better and the motivation of the mc stronger! I KNOW i gotta keep going to finish what I know will change 😭

sometimes “my mom’s best friend’s daughter” is clunkier than “my cousin”. English language does not have easy ways I’ve identifying these sorts of relationships

I used to be 100% Lawful Pantser, but I’m a lot more comfortable hopping around now instead of ALWAYS writing in order. I still end up writing linearly a lot of the time, but would say that otherwise I’m somewhere between a Neutral Pantser and a Chaotic Plantser now.

Finally getting back into the writing routine after being too busy the last couple of weeks. I wish it was easier to get myself to write in the comfort of my own home.

Just hit 50k on my WIP!! 🎉 Its a word count goal I’ve never been able to hit on single project before. I’m incredibly proud of myself for persisting and not falling into the trap of second-guessing everything and immediately re-writing the beginning a thousand times.

Every time I see a book with a similar idea to what I’m writing I have to remind myself that there’s no way that someone else would be able to stumble onto the *exact* same unhinged combination of ideas. I done even know how I got here.

the biggest problem I face as a writer is that I WANT to right, and I love to write, but finding the executive functioning that will l turn my desire into action is hard! I’ve only been able to write recently bc I’m currently unemployed and have a writing buddy to hold me accountable.

Omg I loved the new Superman so much!! Incredibly well written with so much goofy, yet realistic dialogue, compelling character moments even with minor characters, and just all of the best parts of Superman and his universe in general.

I am coping with all the bad by rediscovering escapism. Writing fantasy and trying to feel whimsy and hope despite everything. At the very least I can make something else that will make them mad…

Writers, what details do you care way too much about including and properly describing despite knowing it doesn’t matter?

For me, its clothes/“character design.” I need to know exactly what every character is wearing/looks like, and probably linger on those descriptions too long on the page…

I’ve struggled to get into a regular routine again and I have never been a very prolific writer. Meeting word counts has always felt like a struggle. So this is has been so good for me!!

I’ve been going to a cafe and writing with a good friend of mine a couple of days this past week and I’m baffled by how quickly the words are happening. The first it was like 700 words, then 800, and then yesterday I banged out 1,500 like it was nothing in the same time span??

Unrelated to my last post, but why is it that all my best writing keeps happening on my notes app in waiting rooms lately

I think they should make me the pope. My qualifications:
-related to at least one, maybe two historical popes
-Italian heritage
-my grandparents were catholic in the 60s
-just a chill little guy
