A fantastic discussion on what it really means to tell a patient they have high risk APOL1 alleles, and if we are benefiting them by doing so.

The way to get younger doctors back to the bedside is with data the physical exam finding outperforms other care. This is exactly what the ANDROMEDA shock 1 and 2 trial has done for capillary refill time. This is also the reason POCUS has brought younger docs back to the bedside!

Such a cool study and further evidence on the funny and sad truth that hemodynamic shifts of dialysis actually worsen renal recovery

Love a well made sequel! But 10 percent absolute mortality decrease might have been asking for too much? Also why bicarb vs. no bicarb and not bicarb vs placebo? Have to wonder if no bicarb group received dialysis early because everyone knew they werenβt getting bicarb.

Had so much to say about HRS we had to split it into two episodes!
Check out part 2 on HRS treatment, Transplant, and a topic near and dear to my heart, palliative care.

Cloxacillin versus cefazolin for MSSA Bacteraemia
Cefazolin has a non-inferior efficacy regarding mortality, microbiological or clinical endpoints and was associated with a lower rate of serious adverse events #IDSky

It has been a dream to be able to be a part of my favorite podcast.
Check out this very fun episode on one of the most interesting diseases, Hepatorenal Syndrome!
Excited to share a new case report from my time in the CCU⦠we present a multidisciplinary management of a RCA STEMI complicated by cardiogenic shock, severe mitral regurgitation, and complete heart block.

Love this change in the new 2025 AHA HTN guidelines.
Hypertensive urgency completely removed.
Asymptomatic severe HTN as outpatient , DO NOT send to the emergency room, and more importantly if in the ED, NOT to give IV meds, nor admit. Much needed evidence based change.
