I used to write a "best of" blah blah blah list for a website every month and the push is always for affiliate links not for what's actually good. You won't see indie brands on these ever.

FYI: If you ask ChatGPT for "the best" xyz, it's going to take what it sees most often from sites it trusts. HOWEVER, many of those sites' "best of" lists don't actually test the products but go based on amazon reviews or PR contacts so basically don't trust LLMs for anything.
