Nodding, she nestled her face in his neck and smiled a little.

She closed her eyes and leaned further into him, trying to relax. “Child birth is still dangerous . .”

“I do want her to be happy, but I don’t want to lose her..”

“I told her we could provide for her and the baby, but I don’t think it’s going to be enough..”

Settling into him, she closed her eyes and sighed heavily. “I just can’t lose her, you know how difficult her birth was. She almost didn’t make it . .”

“I really am sorry I kept you from him, darling. I was selfish.” She whispered, before she got up to clear away the food and leave her be.

“Has his ghost disappeared again?” She asked quietly.

“I know you do, honey. But they’re necessary to make sure you and the baby are healthy.”

“you’ve got another checkup with the healers in a week.” She reminded her quietly, as she sat down to make sure she ate everything.

“It’s my job to look after you.” She responded with a smile as she set the tray of food down.

She’s bringing her some breakfast, a healthy meal for her and the baby. @sanguinat.bsky.social

Closing her eyes, she turned around in her daughter’s arms and held her close.

“I nearly lost you when you were born, I can’t go through that again. And I don’t want you to experience that pain . .”

Apparating back to the house when her daughter disappeared, she sighed and went to get herself a drink.

“He chose that life, he knew the risks!”

“Is that really what you think of life with us?” She asked with an expression of disbelief.

Sighing, she followed after her to try and stop her. “Alecto, please. I know it hurts, but you have to think of your baby.”

“Sweetheart, you have to do what they say. If you don’t, you can lose the baby.” She warned calmly.

Nodding, she stood up and moved her fingers through her daughter’s hair to comfort her. “They’re just concerned about the baby’s heart rate, you’ll have to avoid stress.”

Nervously watching them examine her, she sat down in the nearest chair.

Getting out of the bed, she stood back to let them examine her.

“Soon, honey. The healers just want to check you over one more time to make sure the baby is okay.”

“You’ve got plenty of time to get ready, darling. And you won’t be alone.” She promised with a nod of her head.

Nodding, she smiled down at her and moved her fingers through her hair like she would when she was little.

“We’ll support you, honey. Your father and I. The baby won’t want for anything.” She whispered the promise, as she kissed her head again.

Tenderly kissing her forehead, she held her daughter even closer to keep her calm. “You’re pregnant.”

“There’s more news, sweetheart,” she whispered, as she rocked her in her arms.

Frowning, she climbed under the covers so she could cradle her daughter in her arms. “It’ll be okay, honey. I’m here.”

“You fainted, darling. I wanted to make sure you weren’t hurt.”

Sighing, though she had expected such a reaction. She called out to her husband so he could help her take their daughter to the hospital to have her checked over by healers.
