The 'dog days' of summer get their name due to their association with the Dog Star, Sirius, found in the constellation Canis Major. The first visible rising of Sirius occurs during the hot stretch from early July to early September. Woof.

Is there something In particular standing out to you that signals difficulty for health and status?

I did a quick scan of his wiki page on his Rahu-Venus period to get a feel, and it looks like he had scandal around him (Trump university lawsuit, banks restructuring his finances) but the TU lawsuit and and bankruptcies look like they were already filed before that period started.

I think I see what you’re saying about Venus and Rahu. When I look at his divisional charts for health (d6), scandals (d8), status (d10), and strength (d27), I’m seeing lots of obstacles but no clear downfalls.

I’m not seeing the weakness unless the Sept 6 lunar eclipse pulls a surprise while over his 1/7 axis. Most of Sept his first lord Sun is going to be in its own house protecting reputation and vitality. Dasa lord Jupiter (though unfocused in Gemini) will be decently placed in the 11th.

That said, I fully agree with your point that claiming qualities of a naksatra are connected to the significations of the ruling graha is a difficult argument to make.

To me that implies an integral connection between the vimsottari graha ruler and the nakshatra beyond just determining the a person’s dasa sequence. It’s a conversation I love seeing worked on.

Thanks for posting this. I especially appreciated you listing teachers who do and do not blend the graha meanings with the nakshatra significations. I have seen the vimsottari ruling grahas used for other techniques, particularly Iyer for the yogi point and amsa analysis.

I agree that technically it’s the deities. That said, the planetary ruler for the vimsottari dasa system can be used in several ways, eg Iyer’s yogi point methodology. I was also taught there’s some extra dignity for grahas that are swa nakshatra, though that may only be in the oral tradition.
