2025 South Korean Presidential Election was notable for its large gap between Early Voting and Election Day Voting results. In Seoul, Lee Jae-myung won in all but three towns in EV. Conversely, Kim won all but two in EDV. Overall, Lee won the city by 5%, flipping it from 2022.

Three months earlier, Lee had won against (now disgraced) Yoon in Gyeonggi by a larger margin. As I mentioned above, Gyeonggi was his home province after all. Although Gyeonggi provided Lee with 460,000 votes, he lost the election, failing to beat Yoon by 730,000 votes.

In June 2022, the Democratic Party of Korea was facing an uphill battle after narrow defeat in the presidential election three months earlier. Gyeonggi Province, the home province of former candidate Lee Jae-myung, was no exception. Yet, DPK managed to clinch a narrow victory.
