Oh yeah. During Covid, I *made* myself knit a giant Sanquhar cowl that was a tube of about 8 feet of stranded knitting, then grafted. The first foot or so was pretty sloppy, but then I got into the groove.

2/2 Never mind that a whole lot of people who wanted to learn the craft have just given up when faced with this.

1/2 Yup. No joking. To be fair, this was a few years back and the knitting community has become far more tolerant for the most part, but the Knitting Police still believe that "knitting is a 2-handed activity", so lefties should all learn to knit in the conventional direction.

The TKGA and I have had ... issues.

I have actually been *thrown out* of knitting classes because I knit "backwards" (horrible teacher who has since retired) and I get pretty militant when it come to the whole issue.

As a lefty (knitting left-handed Continental since before the internet), I'd really like to see the terminology for this changed - something like Conventional (direction) / Reverse Conventional. Knitting Forwards or Backwards implies that we lefties are doing something wrong.
