Luna will have to send a message and a gift back to Josie when she gets the time.

It’s not exactly the best she can do. But it should be noted that Luna appreciates and values this friendship with her best friend.

Josie of all people understands Luna's schedule.

Thank you for putting up with my crazy and often emotional behind. You deserve the brightest of days and the happiest of nights. May you always have a life full of love, laughter, and endless music to dance to.

She mostly needs sleep and food.

One of which she'll do until it's lunch time.

I'd be remiss if I didn't say thank you to my local neighborhood Spiderman, @webwarrior.bsky.social for all his hard work.

But I've also got to give a really big thank you to @superi0rheroics.bsky.social for the smile he's put on Luna's face. #SuperiorSnow for the win!

He doesn't have to worry about that.

Josie's giving H.E.R.B.I.E. one last squeeze before sending him to go find his father.

Now, she really wants to gift Reed something special... and H.E.R.B.I.E. as well.

Is it?

She definitely didn't mean to keep him away from his father.

But...

The little guy was very comforting and didn't seem to mind her crying.

It's obvious that Reed's doing a very fine job raising him.

Has Josie been snuggling H.E.R.B.I.E. all night?

Yes.

Does she feel a little bit better emotionally?

Possibly.

Is she still physically weak as a newborn kitten?

Most definitely.

"Thank you..."

Josie takes the lemonade and nearly drinks it all in one sitting. She might be a little dehydrated.

Oops.

"There's a really good sushi place that delivers."

Aaaaaand...

She goes back to snuggling H.E.R.B.I.E.

~That you grew up knowing one mistake meant people leaving, having to move, or worse?

"I don't want to be any more of a burden but I know Johnny was looking forward to a burger."

"You always look handsome. I'm sorry for making you feel otherwise."

Josie not only accepts the snuggles from H.E.R.B.I.E., but she returns them, comforted by the child's unconditional affection.

"I... you're right."

How do you explain to a child that you always had to prove that you belonged?~

She nods at Reed's words and opens her arms back up for H.E.R.B.I.E., but she's still blaming herself.

~It's her fault that Johnny got sick and passed out. That Reed has been so distraught. That poor little H.E.R.B.I.E. had to witness all of it happen...

She never should've thought...

Just the same 'ole stupid Josie who never learns.

Relief washes through Josie at hearing Johnny asking questions and sounding like himself.

The shaman squeezes her eyes shut and tries to fight off the tears that want to fall. She shouldn't have borrowed Johnny's shirt or even suggested shopping.

None of this would've happened.~

"I need to help Johnny and..."

Josie makes the effort to get up but her eyes roll back as she falls into the couch.

"H.E.R.B.I.E.? I'm ok."

She's not. She's far from okay.

"Your father and Johnny need help more than I do..."

There's a moment of silence before the feathers shake off the ice before unwrapping around Josie and retreating back into the totem around her neck.

"H.E.R.B.I.E.?"

She wipes at the tears on her cheeks before hugging the little guy with her remaining strength and falling back on the couch.
