BTW, Anne was Tom Chapman's grandmother. Her death while he was away at war explains some of his emotional journey in "Our Hearts Are Full."

James Van Der Beek Dies: ‘Dawson’s Creek’ & ‘Varsity Blues’ Star Who Battled Cancer Was 48 James Van Der Beek, who played the title character on classic 1990s WB show 'Dawson's Creek' and starred in 'Varsity Blues', died February 11 of cancer at 48.

Dawson’s Creek was a weekly appt for me. I appreciated James Van Der Beek’s keeping just the right touch of campy teen angst. I didn’t keep up w/his later career moves and wasn’t aware he was sick. So, it’s a shock to learn of his passing. Prayers for his family. 🙏🏾💔

Kerri McLean as Kitty Despard in Season 5 of Poldark.

Next: Kitty Despard, a real person portrayed in Season 5 of #Poldark. Kitty, (most likely born as Catherine Gordon) met - and married - Irishman Edward Despard in the West Indies and moved with him to Britain. She was an abolitionist and justice reform advocate powerfully portrayed by Kerri McLean.

I really loved this scene, too. But when his helpfulness expired at the same time as his fear of losing her, that felt like a record-scratch.

First up: Georgiana Lambe, a character whose name and general contours were penned by Jane Austen herself. The creators of #Sanditon brought Austen's "chilly and tender" "half mulatto" to life as a powerful, but vulnerable heiress beautifully portrayed by Crystal Clarke.

Wow! Didn't see February sneak up. This US #BlackHistoryMonth, I'll be celebrating Black characters in period drama. Will try to uplift those characters with ties to the Americas.
