This proposal calls for “zero tolerance” of public substance use, a doubling down on criminalization, and deadly forced treatment of our community. Submit written testimony demanding the Council: 1) Reject the Resolution and End Criminalization. 2) Reinstate and expand evidence-based solutions that center people’s health, safety, and needs. 3) Center unhoused people and people who use drugs, who are the experts, in decision-making. This is the Mayor Wu's ordinance. It is not a "Camping Ban." Unhoused people are not camping - they are surviving poverty in public, it is a SURVIVAL BAN. The ordinance is not a public health response but violent public policy targeting unhoused people.
