Also, I don't think I agree with this book's philosophy. "People are inevitable! At what point could this shitty-ass oil tycoon have been anyone other than who he was?" Ummm at literally any point in his life? Without spoiling too much, it's implied he had a few lucid moments of doubt and ⬇️

3) VIGIL: "What if I sort of redid Lincoln in the Bardo, but barely cleared 100 pages and made the main character make an infuriating decision at the end?" Not sure this is ultimately going to be one of Saunders's better-loved works
