in general I think if you feel misunderstood and the art you’re engaged with isn’t doing it you need to start reading indie comics, but as far as comics that will make you a better person I can only confidently speak to the white american experience

if you are a white American and you think you have a totally novel philosophical understanding of modern life you need to read indie comics from 30 years ago
