Yesterday I wandered around the Repulse Bay beach and made some new discoveries: huge statues of Guanyin the Goddess of Mercy and 天后 the Goddess of the Sea! There are lots of changes in the vicinity since my last visit to the beach and thought the commercialization of the area was a bit overdone.

Never expected to find something like this in Shenzhen!
This new shopping mall is one of several malls in different locations called The MixC 萬象城, and this brand new one is designed by a Japanese architect and is located in the region of 前海.

It was quite a unique experience wandering in this exquisite Shenzen bookstore! It was actually on an Instagram friend's recommendation that I made a special trip to the place. Absolutely worth the time!

Oh, all food that I had in Shenzen was scrumptious, and not pricey at all!!!

Chang Huasen is definitely my new favorite now!! But Gong Jun is not weak either in this drama! They make a dashing pair!

Finally I finished watching #BloodRiver! I did sigh a sigh of relief about the ending 😊 and can't wait for S2!! My verdict: this is the best #wuxia #cdrama that I've watched in 2025! I think's it's better than #BloodofYouth and may be on par with #AJourneytoLove. I adore the Muyu-Changhe dynamics!!

Animated display of some of Chao Shao-an's 趙少昂 famous works. Video recorded at the Special Exhibition (celebrating the painter's 120 birth year) held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. Chao Shao-an is an iconic painter from the Lingnan School of Painting 嶺南畫派.

I'd say Hong Kong people are incredibly creative and imaginative! Some of the actors and actresses who played the main characters actually made an indelible impression on viewers' mind! And the fight scenes were the main draw!

Yeah, the 80s were probably the golden years for adaptations from Jin Yong's novels!

Can't agree more that the two types of media influence each other! But there's actually no lack of China-produced wuxia & xianxia cdramas that have caught westerners' attention! I always love non-Chinese POV that shows passion in Chinese culture 🤩

Yes! While we consider wuxia & xianxia media as an essential part of the Chinese fantasy culture, non-Chinese players of wuxia games, especially first-time ones, may be fazed by the superhuman stunts 😅🤗

Wuxia games have been around for a long time now, but wuxia movies much much longer! Perhaps there're two separate sets of audiences? I myself am a diehard wuxia movie fan! 😍

Oh, that 2024 exhibition was a special one-time event held in Central District to celebrate Jin Yong's birth centenary. The statues of various characters were displayed at that event. But the various exhibits at the Museum are different items like film excerpts, handwritten manuscripts etc.

The Jin Yong Gallery 金庸館 is a permanent part of the Heritage Museum, and its exhibits get changed every now and then. This was my third visit to the Gallery in seven years. 😍

I spent this Sunday morning at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, browsing precious excerpted scenes of old #wuxia films/TV series adapted from Jin Yong's novels, as well as losing myself in the collection of ink paintings of renowned painter Chao Shao-an 趙少昂 from the Lingnan School of Painting 嶺南畫派.
