πAzania to come
That period where you ask yourself whether you should have a cool (not cold) beer or red wine has arrived.
I kinda miss the north coast of KZN where winter didn't really exist as it does in Cape Town.
But then, these dreams and bills won't fulfill or pay themselves π€·πΎββοΈ.
Dear #jazzsky
How early (or late) can one buy a 6 year old an affordable brass trumpet? (Affordable by South African standards. Cyril's economy and allπ€·πΎββοΈ.)
I'm getting tired of the sound of the plastic trumpet and would much rather put up with a 'bad' imitation of Hugh Masekela on a brass trumpet.
When I was in school, I had to put my grades up for adoption because I couldnβt raise them

11.03.2025 17:35 β π 1309 π 234 π¬ 11 π 0Voting yes in the referendum is not in and of itself a bad thing, I raise it to point out how nowadays (especially on Elon's platform) it is used as a device to say "be grateful, we did you a favour". When in fact the referendum was one small part of the fall of apartheid.

What I was trying to describe in my initial response is the civil society to full blown right wing movement pipeline of AfriForum (which the media is only picking up now)
They live among us, I suspect. They start movements fighting for minority (and language) rights. Then seek self determination (or is it isolation). They lobby foreign governments for assistance against "140 race laws". They remind everyone who cares to listen that they voted yes in 1992 etc...

Under neoliberalism, the far right have taken βfreedomβ as their play thing and run off with it.
By freedomβ, they mean freedom of the market and freedom for the market.
They absolutely do not mean freedom for and of the βpeopleβ around the world.
Reminds me of a colleague who once said their father was opposed to apartheid. In the same conversation they revealed that their father had served in the SADF for over 30 years and moved up the ranks (retired in the early 2000s).
Couldn't help but wonder how exactly this made sense to himπ€

Ukufa inuku.
This has been an incredibly difficult week for my (paternal) family.
We lost our youngest cousin. A 20 year old who just didn't wake up last Friday.
She had upgraded her matric last year and had been accepted to both the universities she preferred.
She had her bags pack to leave home on the 20thπ
