Coral species from another ocean may be the only way to save Caribbean reefs
My latest pub, apparently more controversial than it should. We must support research on whether nonnative coral can fulfill reef-building in the Caribbean. If it shows promise, we should work to allow provisional deployment of such species while monitoring for adverse effects and using precaution.

There really isnβt a reasonable interpretation that would allow this road to be built. Itβs a brazen attempt to ignore existing public lands and other law just to build a road, when another road could be built that doesnβt do so.

Proposed Endangered Species Act regulations are designed to stifle protections and provide developers even more power.
The Trump administration has resurrected several regulatory changes to the Endangered Species Act. They are "as irresponsible as they are illegal," writes our @alejandrocamacho.bsky.social in a new piece at @legal-planet.org.

Scienceβs 2025 Breakthrough of the Year: The unstoppable rise of renewable energy
Clean energy infrastructure is being deployed with unmatched scale and speedβand China is leading the way
Despite current US governmentβs immoral and economically idiotic efforts to fight it, it is good news that the world is slowly transitioning towards renewable energy. We need it to be further along, and it easily could be. But at least the world is waking up. The US government will be back someday.

Californiaβs Big Climate and Energy Package, Explained
How California Quietly Overhauled Its Energy Policy
California is a place where people are having reasonable debates about climate policy. Itβs not easy stuff, adults mostly in good faith are trying to figure it out. If only something even remotely similar was happening at the federal level.

Trump Environmental Protection Agency moves to repeal finding that allows climate regulation
President Donald Trumpβs administration has proposed revoking a scientific finding that's long been the central basis for U.S. action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change.
The Trump admin is blatantly ignoring the overwhelming science to be an international pariah & rewrite reality. No independent moral scientist considers this factually & morally defensible. Itβll be challenged in court & likely will lose. Even the first Trump admin thought this was beyond the pale.

YouTube video by US Department of the Interior
Inside Interior | July 4, 2025
A real post by Trumpβs Interior Department using taxpayer dollars for propaganda. Itβs horrifying and hilarious. Horrifying because itβs the best evidence we live in an Idiocracy. Hilarious because it looks as if done by a fifth grader and uses a gay anthem promoting helping underprivileged men.

Senateβs tax bill seeks to gut clean energy; Musk calls it βutterly insaneβ
The Republican-controlled Congress is poised to score a major win for President Trump by repealing green energy incentives that Democrats passed in 2022.
I guess I agree with Elon on something. This would be suicidal. And itβs likely to happen. The Republicans are screwing over INDUSTRY ESPECIALLY IN RED STATES in order to make Trump happy for 5 minutes. BTW the US Chamber of Commerce has said itβs stupid and dont do it also.
