Always shocked by people on this site & elsewhere who will @ a working journo or writer, someone whose (in my case) pay hasn't increased in 13 years & who likely live/work precarious lives, with an indignant "paywall" or suggest a non-library workaround cheat. Such raw rudeness, nerve & contempt.

B.C. transportation ministry changes Kootenay Lake ferry project manager - Nelson Star Western Pacific Marine had been in charge of building the new vessel

B.C.'s transportation ministry is removing the company in charge of building the new Kootenay Lake ferry. The vessel will be four years late and at least $50 million over budget by the time it is sailing in 2027.

We really could just take this to its logical conclusion, which is Nurse for Hughes. Who says no?

Big news out of Lytton. (@amandafollett.bsky.social has been working this story, looking for answers, for so many years, and via so many FOIs!)

My colleague has written a column about taking a leave from the job to address his depression, which sounds practical but is far from easy.

We still rely on print ad sales here, as do most community papers. We have an excellent publisher who works hard to keep us above water.
