Saul Zabar, Smoked Fish Czar of Upper West Side, Dies at 97

I grew up going to Zabar's. So many of my childhood memories center around the best lox in NYC (which is saying something). With Saul Zabar's passing today, the Upper West Side has lost a legend who turned his parent's humble store into a culinary institution.

Mine’s a 30-something fictional dude with a receding hairline who is hot AF b/c he folds laundry without having to be asked… and before anyone asks, no, clearly I am not ok. No straight women are in 2025!

My only complaint is how it feels a bit ‘out of order’ - I always wondered whether ‘Displaced’ and ‘Distant Origin’ were supposed to be after ‘WCS’ b/c the comment Tom makes to B’Elanna doesn’t make sense AFTER he’s made her swoon by finding her a holodeck program to match her romance novel!

IMO post-Threshold eps are some of the best of the show and mostly thanks to Lisa Klink.

‘Innocence’, ‘Blood Fever’, ‘Displaced’ and’ Worst Case Scenario’ are 4 of my faves.

‘Distant Origin’ isn’t my fave but it has some good scenes.

RIP Jilly Cooper, a great English eccentric with whom I once shared a champagne breakfast, which she paid for, on an early train to Cheltenham during the Festival. She had been to a book launch and was on her way home not having slept. Kind, funny and will be sorely missed, thoughts with her family.
