In honor of Dr. Jenni Evans's legacy in tropical meteorology, I warmly welcome your participation in the upcoming session @ametsoc.org's 37th Conf. on Hurricanes & Tropical Meteorology:
"From Tropics to Extratropics: Exploring Cyclone Dynamics in Current & Future Climates in Memory of Jenni Evans"
π§΅
Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics (UTIG) & learning about the amazing work the faculty & students are doing β especially the incredible research coming out of Danielle Touma's group!
You can find my talk on YouTubeπ lnkd.in/gTcV3TmB
Same in my tropical meteorology class!! We do tropical weather briefings at the start of class! π«Ά
09.10.2025 20:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Some π findings:
* AEWs over Africa are projected to become more intense & wetter.
* AEW locations remain unchanged, but a case study reveals slower future AEW speeds & delayed TC genesis.
* Slower future AEW propagation may lead to longer-lasting heavy rainfall, raising the risk of flooding.
π¨ New Study Alert!
Our study with @zmoon92.bsky.social & @edougherty.bsky.social offers new insights into how
African Easterly Waves (AEWs), the seeds of Atlantic hurricanes π, are being shaped by a warmer, moister climate.
