It's always hard for me to pick up on tone through text. Whenever I see someone say "it can be explained" as far as brains/experiences go, I get rubbed the wrong way. Thanks for the article.

Just because something can be explained in scientific or clinical terms, does not remove the mystery of its' essence. Reducing the endless variety of experiencing reality to "neuro components" removes the human element in a big way. What are you accomplishing by trivializing natural phenomena?

There is a better world at our fingertips! I will never give into nihilism. Everything and everyone we need is here, has been here. There is a better world, and it's calling for us!

I feel similarly about schizophrenia. Much overlapping, misunderstanding, glossing over many ancient, cultural perspectives. I feel we are getting closer to understanding what these experiences are outside of western psychiatry.

A preserved skin of an ancient human, found in Siberia. From the article: "Archaeologist Sergey Yatsenko of the Russian State University for the Humanities says the animal most commonly found was a monster that took the form of a wild goat with an eagle’s beak and a panther’s tail. This creature appeared on the upper part of the right shoulder of most of the mummies. On the left shoulder, the Pazyryk people sported the depiction of a tiger or a wild ram. A rooster poised for battle was frequently tattooed on noblemen’s forefingers, and a group of goats or rams often marched along their lower legs."

Tattoo on the arm of the "Siberian Ice Maiden". She is a mummy from the 5th century that was found near the Russia-China border in 1993. From an article "Ukok Plateau, the Ice Maiden – often referred to as the 'Princess of Ukok' – offered a remarkable glimpse into the world of the Pazyryk people, a nomadic tribe that roamed the steppes more than 2,500 years ago. Impeccably preserved by the cold, the Ice Maiden’s still form lay accompanied by six horses, meticulously arranged in a radial pattern, symbolizing her status and significance in life. But it wasn't just her burial rites or the artifacts she was interred with that drew gasps of wonder and intrigue; it was the intricate designs that adorned her skin."

Evidence of tattooing has been found across the Earth; ranging vastly in significance, style, and application. We are all connected through art, and tattoos are an embodiment of that connection.

Always always!! Too many people ask me why I mask even though I'm not at high risk, and my answer baffles them. I wish they could see that caring about others is the most human thing we can do.

I can't even begin to imagine the danger and destruction of LC. It feels so obvious to me to listen to science/testimony, but the maskless faces tell a different story.

Our health has taken a backseat to aesthetics and pleasure seeking; I wish everyone would see what we see. It's all out of love.

When I found out about Long Covid back in 2022, I began masking everywhere again.

I've heard way too many harrowing tales of being unable to leave bed, listen to music, or walk short distances, among many other symptoms.

I am unwilling to risk the quality of my life on a preventable disease. 😷
