A loss for the #RunningCommunity Many people running because of him. He also removed the stigma of taking walk-breaks in general, proving that pushing yourself doesn't make you faster, and that you can include walk-breaks in your routine even if you're not a #Galloway runner.

Good point. We don't even know who they are cause they were masks to hide their faces.

I did, but I'm not interested in private conversations.

2/2 This particular part of the story is my own. Well, at least part of it. You can read about Näcken's wife in court documents from 1748. That said this part is my favorite part of my story.

1/2 It was a little locket. He found it on the riverbed and when he opened it a portrait of a little boy floated away. He kept the locket and brought it home to his wife. Years later it was almost her undoing.
It was just a little locket.

Interesting, I was just wondering if the Tooth Fairy belief came about to comfort fears of looking for teeth in the afterlife? If the Tooth Fairy took care of it then you could relax. Maybe she did it for adult teeth lost too, at first?

And the apron! My grandma wore those every day!

Just listened to an interview with him on Code Switch. Excellent conversation.

"I read well and have good comprehension" ok, good to know. I mean it's not as though it would be expected of the President, so it's good he told us. Does he write too, I wonder?

An amazing day. So interesting to see everyone's watery posts!

I believe it. What a blessing.

It really would. At first I thought that maybe you meant the green bush that you see on the left in front of me. If you look at the greenery and the branches there it actually looks like there's a troll or something.

😀 That is me pulsing through the water to get to the photo shoot. My husband took the picture, also standing in the water, and had no idea I photobombed. Should have used period clothing!

That's amazing @danff.bsky.social Thank you for sharing that. It's indeed similar in many ways.
And thank you for coming to my talk!

Maybe.... but it's not so strange and greenish. Are you sure you're looking at the right spot?

19.02.2026 11:49 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Scary indeed. And somewhat similar to how Näcken turns into a horse that takes riders and then never stops running.

Goodness. That's very scary. Will be cautious if I visit Wales even though I love horses.😁

During our photoshoot for my book cover for #TheLureOfWaterAndWood something very fitting, and entirely by accident, happened. Can you spot it?

1/2 King Karl IX saw Näcken seated on a pole in the waterways outside the Royal Castle in Stockholm. He opened his window and shot at him, but Näcken caught the bullet and threw it back at him. This was told to the Dutch diplomat Anthonis Goetreeis in July 1616.

I didn't know of this one until I just found it today! Here Näcken is playing a harp while the Sea God Ägir's nine daughters float around him.
