Ive noticed the change for a few months. seems like AJE has a new managing director as of this past summer. The Iran hawks have been a thing since then. As of more Trump-aligned guests. A friend thinks it’s an attempt to appease the admin. The GCC attacks have just made it even worse.

There are none that provide such constant coverage. Middle East Eye is not bad, Drop Site News too. But they have weekly not daily/hourly programming. There is no one to follow on Bluesky, which is very US-focused. X is where it's at.

Thinking about Iran in sectarian & ethno-nationlist terms is a mistake. Certainly there are some separatist/sectarian sentiments. But they remain quite marginal. The diversity of Iran is PART of Iran's rich cultural heritage. It is not in tension w/Iranian nationalism - it is central to it

The very idea of the "target" has been rendered meaningless in the post-Gaza world. Targets are no longer encountered or searched, they are manufactured, industrially, digitally, with AI, as a means to hide the carpet bombing of civilians in war.
