(1/14) I'm finishing up the near final character designs of my still distant game, "Sugary Sinful Girls". All the gals drawn here are designed & drawn by yours truly with a computer mouse, hopefully the end look is okay. Going over 14/16 main characters in the game.

While I don't know their filming process or anything, you can tell even passively watching they put a lot of consideration into what a shot is saying, how it feels, the colors in it, what's framed in all parts of the shot, & it even holds up to dissecting shots too.
Sticks out in the mind.
Having sat on Pluribus Season 1 for a bit, something Pluribus does super well, maybe better than any other show I've ever seen, is that it strives to make nearly every shot like a photo with consideration for the composition of the whole shot, how it feels, & what it means.

(3/3) alarming signals, which leads them down a rabbit hole of conspiracy & terror.
Having over 50 endings (as the game changes as you collect more), interactive detailed environments w/hidden stuff to do, ranging from signal decoding, cleaning, to a vast array of varied threats, & many surprises.
(2/3) Play as Scyne, a signal processing engineer who decodes & maintains the technology alone high up in the Himalayas, working with a cutting edge AI named N.O.A.H. to maintain operations, & otherwise only occasionally gets in contact with their higher ups. They begin to decode

Not Your Eyes
WIP #4 "Log Sit"
Game releasing on Steam on February 17th.
(54/54) month, & the Exit 8 movie I know hits the West pretty soon. YouTubers have caught this feeling more than most filmmakers so far, though.
Reminder that this list I ordered on personal feelings to liminal quality, not on the overall film itself. Feel free to recommend more!
(53/54) And there we go. Honestly I don't think film in a bigger way has caught up with video games, & indie games especially, in capturing the "liminal vibe" in the horror space fully, but I hope to see more full motion picture efforts in the future. It Ends just came out last

(52/54) 1. Vivarium (2019)
I've really wanted to find another horror film with similar vibes to this one, but I've found no others to date, not even by the same director. I think it's the most successful mix of liminal feeling meets horror film to date by far, honestly.
(51/54) 2. Sleep has her house (2017)
Almost feels like cheating including this movie, it's nearly entirely atmospheric shots & paintings with hypnotic music & narration of a cryptic story, focused on mood & atmosphere, which does absolutely give strong liminal vibes.
(50/54) 3. Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010)
A simple dark story with immaculate vibes, which often lean heavily towards a strong liminal feeling. The intention of the film was always to feel like something weird & fever dreamish you'd watch late into the morning on TV, it suceeds.
(49/54) 4. Skinamarink (2022)
Experimental movie that truly no other film to date feels like, which is nearly focused entirely on its strong liminal vibes & dark malicious feelings to children who don't know the evil they're dealing with, it successfully is very liminal feeling.
(48/54) 5. Angel's Egg (1985)
Only animated film on this list, given not too many horror adjacent animated movies. But Angel's Egg is a mostly dialogueless visually stunning dark film, with some truly liminal settings with its abandoned fisherman town with strong religious motifs.
(47/54) 6. Cure (1997)
Again, I think Kiyoshi Kurosawa is an atmospheric genius, & Cure's overall tone & the off feeling of so many places visited in the film give off strange liminal airs, like human but off. Maybe appropriate for a dark movie about hypnotic suggestion with a killer who's off.
