To be clear the concern is about potentially bringing in more non-Scottish players as opposed to his nationality.

Sounds like a really interesting appointment and, as a German Fußball fanatic, think it could be great, However, given the problems we appear to have at the moment with a talented squad of predominantly non-Scottish players, I imagine some people will not support it?

Interesting development in Bremen which creates a huge amount of uncertainty. Would be interesting to know what @manuelveth.bsky.social and @sbienkowski.bsky.social make of it and the potential for a coaching change this summer?

35 years of waiting but finally @afc.co.uk have won the Scottish Cup! A great, gutsy performance from a team which showed real spirit and belief. A nervy afternoon spent in Glasgow but it was so worth it. COYR!

Totally crazy and such a non Union game - but fantastic to watch

Fascinating article and I share many of the fears about how we reshape the squad without being pulled into the relegation battle next season. For me, Alvero is a great example of how unsuccessful recent transfer activity has been and does not give me huge confidence for the reshaping we need

What was the point of signing Silva? A big chance for him to restart his career and he looked like he couldn’t be bothered making any effort last night. And our previous signings (eg Malatini and Alvero) don’t look likely to make any positive impact on the team. Our signing strategy is a mess

Great home debut for Oday! COYR

Some very strong statements from Werner and players after the game including words like „feeling ashamed“ - perhaps this will be the low point and the team will find its mojo again…but I am really worried about the Pokal game on Tuesday!

Great commentary as ever Derek. What do you think is wrong at Bremen? Have conceded a ridiculous number of goals in 2025 and players seemed to give up at 3-0

Embarrassing and gutless performance. So many players totally out of form and repeating the same mistakes week after week that leads to us conceding goals. Bielefeld have a great chance of a Pokal SF spot.

After the last couple of games, Werner had to change things. Fingers crossed that it works!

Conceding 9 goals in 2.5 games is the main problem - many of these (certainly in the two home games) have come us giving the ball away in midfield and then either losing men or giving them too much space. It needs to be fixed

TSG Hoffenheim feels like a club that has lost its way this season. I think they were too quick in changing manager when they sacked Matarazzo and clearly (some of) the players are really unhappy with things. Will be interesting to see how all of the noise this week impacts on their performance.

Have a great 2025 Derek and, hopefully, a revival in the fortunes of the Dons

Being in Hoffenheim to see Werder recover from 3-0 down to win 4-3

Super article Manu. I worry about the relatively small squad that Werder operates and the impact of any injuries to key players. Especially as the younger guys brought in during recent transfer windows have yet to break into the team e.g. Alvero, Malatini and Topp. However in Ole we trust!

Huge 3 points. 3 of the next 4 are very winnable home games so hopefully be cemented in top 6 or 7 soon…..

The return of Burkardt and his fantastic form has been one of the key factors in the Mainz05 revival

Hopefully an acceptable approach on a DeutscheFussball trip to see 10 games in 10 days? 😊

That was a big defeat for Kiel - I find it hard to see them surviving.

Stuttgart have struggled this season, I think in part down to the players that left but also managing both domestic and European competitions (which leads to injuries). Are they in danger of missing out on a European stop this season?

Werder. Went to a game in Bremen 7 years ago (lost 2-1 to Bayern) but loved the city, the stadium, the atmosphere and the fans. The relegation a couple of years later simply made me a bigger fan and I became a member 2 years ago.
