Jack Kirby, with Chic Stone, tells a tale about Jack Ruby’s murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, from May 1967’s Esquire magazine.

I had no idea at all “46 Hours & 36 Minutes In The Life Of Jack Ruby” existed. It’s amazing what you can turn up while trawling through old archives.

I'll be waiting for the third mediocre netflix film called War Machine.
A true trilogy of military incompetence.

I know it's not a remake

I know it's not a remake

The bad guy in this movie does a light show before every attack - like it's video game boss battle.

Remaking War Machine after less than a decade? Netflix ARE desperate!

Dredd died in the Oxygen Desert on the moon during the first year. Everything else is just a dying dream.

Locas by Jaime Hernandez
Staccato in comics form. Sometimes too much. Jaime draws like James Ellroy writes, with important implications happening in brief moments. Often hard to follow (especially considering more characters than a Russian epic novel), and often all the more rewarding for it.

Summer Book by Tove Jansson.
My first non-Moomin Jansson; this one was a tad too sweet for my taste, though she never crosses the invisible line that would me it actually 'annoying.' it helps that child character actually feels like a child going through emotional rollercoaster.

I'm going to stand at this street corner and give random kids who approach me money. Surely there is nothing suspicious about this!

Storm of Steel by Ernst Junger.
I think this one is interesting more in comparison to other WWI memoirs / novels - the famous ones always tend to be sad ruminations; but Junger seems to take all the horror in stride. No one told him this was was meant to be different than previous wars.

Please, can you spare a dime? I can win big by betting on Alan Moore coming back to comics to write an ALF revival...

Coffee bags, one is Tom of Finland with a Tom of Finland image on it. The other is Moomin with a Moomin leaning on a blueberry. More details: in the photograph of two "Art Roast" coffee bags on the shelf of a store with prices in euros. One of the bags is large and black and says HEAVY DUTY dark roast coffee beans, exclusive blend by Robert [I can't read it, it's in script]. The other is blue and says Blueberry coffee.

I must be getting old, because I recall we 'totally crushed Iran' and 'set their nuclear research years back' about six months ago instead of six years... Why do you need to do a 'preemptive strike' on someone we just beat so badly?

A Brief History of the Samurai by Jonathan Clements (audiobook).
Exactly what it says on the tin. It gets more interesting the more it goes, and the better the historical resources are, and despite the small space it manages to integrate broader history of the country pretty well.

Aiding and Abetting by Muriel Sparks
My first Sparks, probably not the last. The ending presses the 'absurd' button a bit too hard (though you can justify it as a story someone is making up), but the rest of the is a great twisty comedy-mystery.
