Storm of Steel by Ernst Junger.
I think this one is interesting more in comparison to other WWI memoirs / novels - the famous ones always tend to be sad ruminations; but Junger seems to take all the horror in stride. No one told him this was was meant to be different than previous wars.

Please, can you spare a dime? I can win big by betting on Alan Moore coming back to comics to write an ALF revival...

I put down the other half on a new volume of Duncan the Wonder Dog in 2026. So, y'know... Fingers crossed.

Harvey Pekar's Cleveland by Jeosph Remnant and Harvey Pekar
A double achievement: a flop as urban history AND as personal history.

Coffee bags, one is Tom of Finland with a Tom of Finland image on it. The other is Moomin with a Moomin leaning on a blueberry. More details: in the photograph of two "Art Roast" coffee bags on the shelf of a store with prices in euros. One of the bags is large and black and says HEAVY DUTY dark roast coffee beans, exclusive blend by Robert [I can't read it, it's in script]. The other is blue and says Blueberry coffee.

I must be getting old, because I recall we 'totally crushed Iran' and 'set their nuclear research years back' about six months ago instead of six years... Why do you need to do a 'preemptive strike' on someone we just beat so badly?

A Brief History of the Samurai by Jonathan Clements (audiobook).
Exactly what it says on the tin. It gets more interesting the more it goes, and the better the historical resources are, and despite the small space it manages to integrate broader history of the country pretty well.

Aiding and Abetting by Muriel Sparks
My first Sparks, probably not the last. The ending presses the 'absurd' button a bit too hard (though you can justify it as a story someone is making up), but the rest of the is a great twisty comedy-mystery.

Don’t Take G.I. Joe For Granted! By Tom Shapira There’s nothing remarkable about G.I.Joe #28. It’s not an anniversary issue; it’s not an extra-long issue; it doesn’t start or end a new storyline. The creative team is composed of t…

For @shelfdust.bsky.social I wrote about G.I.Joe #28 - the comics that has everything: clueless deputies, robot-smashing action and battles on land, air and sea

Macro photo of a brown stink bug in face view on a leaf, guarding a tightly-clustered bunch of eggs that are shaped and colored exactly like a full tray of dark beer with foam on top.

Finally, the bug is back with a round of the Guinness.
