BC Building Trades is a voice for workers

I’ve had the pleasure of a close relationship with BCBT for several years. Supporting their work in standing up for workers

Fun fact: BC Building Trades members are part of the large Mass Timber Pavilion Project at BCIT

Firefighters — They fight wild blazes in the bush, scale apartments to rescue families, and venture into houses without knowing what awaits them.

Great to connect with BCWS, with the Langford Fire crew, and countless others.

Proud to support our firefighters

The Weston Family Foundation to donate $8m to support an innovative prescribed fire program.

With UBCO, this first of its kind program will help educate and train professionals across Canada.

A great initiative to improve wildfire resilience from coast to coast.

Mosaic is piloting a new integration project, here on the island, in the Koksilah Watershed.

This project will support our government's water-sustainability plan agreement with Cowichan Tribes, signed back in 2023.

The BCTS review came out over a year ago. Since then:

30% sales increase year-year & 50% increase in the North

Steady progress is being made, while the recommendations of the review are being implemented to make BCTS work for people in the forest sector.

It’s official, British Columbians will no longer have to change their clocks twice a year!

Starting March 8, BC will be transitioning to a permanent Daylight Savings Time. This means that our final time change will happen this Sunday.

Another Forest Landscape Plan is underway.

This initiative would bring local community perspectives, indigenous knowledge, and modern forest management skills, to create a successful, sustainable land management operation for a vast Timber Supply Area.

While we work to expand and improve everything from education to healthcare, the opposition seems to be forgetting their own history.

They did one thing to our essential services. Cuts, cuts, and more cuts.

We will always fight to protect British Columbians.

Since this legislative session started, every day I’m reminded of the responsibility I carry for our community, Langford-Highlands.

We’re going to make sure LGH grows the right way. New schools, stronger healthcare, better transportation, and good paying local jobs.

As of late 2025, BC is outperforming the rest of Canada in domestic exports in the international market.

We are talking about almost 8% increases when the rest of Canada dropped down 4%.

In other words, yes we are fighting back against tariffs.

NAFTA Panel has made its verdict: Canada has been a fair trading partner to the US. Something we already knew.

The panel agrees, tariffs on BC lumber are unjustified and punitive.

The best way forward is for our countries to come to the table and negotiate a deal.

The federal government announced $500m in support for retooling Canada’s forest sector.

Thank you Minister Tim Hodgson for your work on the hill during a critical moment in forestry.

British Columbia is excepting its fair share.

When Donald Trump attacks our softwood lumber industry, he’s not attacking trees. He’s attacking families, paycheques, and communities in British Columbia.
We will not let Trump dictate the future of BC forestry workers.

My thoughts are with the community of Fraser Lake after the news of a devastating fire.

This community have been true leaders in the work we’ve done together. I’ve seen the will of the people of Fraser Lake, and I know they will work together to recover from this loss.

A working forest means active land management, area-based approaches, full-rotation work, and long-term stewardship.

Our forests aren’t just beautiful - they’re a key economic asset. One that must be protected.

I recently met with our BC Value-Added Wood Coalition.

Our value-added wood manufacturers are key to building economic hubs.

This means, in a working forest, they are crucial to connecting the market with the on-the-ground work.
