On 4/14, Prof. Wagner talked about journalism ethics. The first is to seek truth and report it. However, we learned last semester that truth can have a slant, and most news isn't bipartisan. My question is: if all news isn't neutral, is the truth reported in the way it should?#UWJ201 #301

In my opinion, it's not a conflict of interest because reporters each have their own opinions. As long as they don't exemplify this in their writing, and keep it unbiased, there is a good chance it's not a conflict of interest.

I think that the most used is the first strategy (to build a strong consumer base). For more than just MLMs, this strategy is necessary to keep a company successful. This strategy also utilizes elements of the new model of marketing, which is also vital for success and widely used.

For me, social proof and consistency are influential in my decisions. Feeling as though the decision I'm making especially concerning the news isn't super out there is important. In society, I think that authority is important, as seen with Trump.

In this age, I believe focusing on PR or the new model of marketing is important. There is a place for both, but with the influence of social media, marketing is a very important part of having a successful company. People have a short attention span. so knowing how to keep it is hard

Definitely. The power of social media to fearmonger people from all generations is astounding. I think a future solution is to grow the influence of local news for Gen X and Millennials, as we have seen that local news sources are the most trusted.

In 3/17 lecture, Prof. Wagner showed a pie chart of what people think about the media. Overall, the media was viewed as liberal leaning. What are possible reasons for this view? Is it because mainstream newspapers have a left media slant?

Yes, I have, with how divided the country is right now, it's difficult not to assume certain qualities based on who someone supports. News media plays into this as well because if you are solely getting news from one side of the aisle, you are more likely to fit that character.

It's getting more and more difficult for the media to be truly nonpartisan with how polarized the US is right now. The best way to combat this is to get news from a variety of news sources to avoid framing & agenda-setting effects (and more).

In my opinion, this statistic will continue to be accurate, as not pursuing a college degree leads to a multi-faceted array of consequences, one of which is being less informed on current events. Due to this, I believe that it will continue to be accurate.

The competitiveness and quick turnover rate of the media industry heavily influence reporters because basing your livelihood on such a fluctuating base will result in the need to be cutthroat to earn a living, and the more attention a story gets, the more money you will receive. #UWJ201 #301
