Holy Migrant,
son of refugees,
You alone know the bloodshed that is to come.
have mercy on us,
Let every bomb be dismantled
Let every soldier return home
So that we may stop
sacrifcing each other
On the altars of empire
And of war.
Have mercy on us
Until we remember
We are kin.
Amen
The denomination followed me on here and so I feel like I gotta make the disclaimer that I very very much value Biblical exegesis and the witness scripture offers! But that exam sure put my mind and body through it lol
These are very cool! It took me a minute to figure out where I had heard that tune! I'm excited to see other hymns that come out of this project :)
Just once I would love to exegete a fresh tomato or a wild goose.. surely they have just as much to say about God
I fear Mary Oliver would not wish me to spend my wild and precious life taking an exegesis exam π
I loooooove him
My suspicions were confirmed... so much about this feels familiar π
Watching the sound of music for the first time with very little background knowledge. We're at the "I am 16" part and Rolfe makes me *nervous* (I hope I'm wrong but we'll see...)
I'm glad the PC(USA) has put out some statements that are anti-deportation, I really am, but what I'm waiting on is statements and policy that are encouraging civil disobedience including offering sanctuary, etc. Justice isn't coming within this system. This system needs to be dismantled.
Ohhh was today troubling. Finding small bits of comfort in knowing we're not the first ones to see these things unfold, finding hope that others made it through, and finding grief that many still did not make it. Praying for courage more than anything now. π
