In Vlaanderen is hij nagenoeg volledig onbekend (in tegenstelling tot de namen die je opsomt). Ik ken Carmiggelt via andere columnisten, zoals Kees van Kooten, die hier wel bekend zijn. En natuurlijk van het satirische grafschrift door Michel van der Plas.

Zowel voor het Frans als het Engels is de afzetmarkt veel groter, dus je kan meer auteurs in omloop houden. Maar ik wil wel geloven dat Frankrijk en Engeland hun literaire erfenis meer koesteren dan de Nederlanden. De vraag is dan: hoe doen ze dat? En zouden wij dat ook kunnen?
