For a variety of reasons, video/rendering tech just simply cannot match the kind of quality that we take for granted wrt audio, and our capacity to perceive motion is far far above what any display tech can do

Like no, the average person will not fail an A/B test of, say, 60fps vs 144fps, even 120fps vs 144fps is easily differentiated. This is nowhere near the extremely wishy washy stuff you find in audio talks primarily because the audio equivalent of *all* these framerates would be a dying speaker

Ok but this is like a wild take because the frequencies that the human eye and brain can differentiate are like, an actual measured thing, we have data on it, there's not a *great* deal of subjectivity involved

That is already the premise (and main issue, imo) of the meta headsets though, the fact they're all functionally consoles at the same time as headsets is why they're so expensive, no one really makes dedicated PCVR headsets anymore

The issue here is 40k is a "setting" instead of a story. It keeps being treated as a setting, as Wiki Fodder, kind of. Instead of as a story like the ASOIAF books

There should be massively more DIY spaces for everything. Not only is it prohibitive to buy all the equipment, it's incredibly wasteful for everyone who needs to use it every so often to get their own

oh i know, i've used Mint before, for years, but the reason it's much more performant tends to be that so many little quality of life things that run in the background in windows just aren't there in linux

linux is much better and more usable than windows except for the bits where you need a computer program but the only thing anyone is willing to send you is a box of loose screws

*the person in question uses "bloatware" to refer to the hundred different programs you use that do convenient UX things or make your gaming hardware function properly

Did we read the same version of Primordium? All the humans in that story struggle greatly with fighting the Geas implanted by the Librarian, and the entire trilogy deals with the tyranny of the past on different scales

It depends on if they ever have to live without the prosthetics imo, like do they maybe run out of battery/mana? Get EMP'd? Get magical EMP'd? Or maybe just they get damaged and you gotta write through the differences and parallels between a disabling injury and damage to a magic prosthetic
