So p4v just spent 5 hours renaming my workspace folder. I could have done the same thing with a manual folder rename and 'p4 sync -k' in 20 seconds. Well done you the most expensive version control system on the planet.

Where are all the Strix Halo laptops? Afaik there’s only two models announced - one of which isn’t even a “real laptop” - and the other with only a 14” screen. What’s the point of putting the most performant IGP ever into 13 and 14 inch models only?

When I was 9 years old I spent all my savings and then some importing Cinemaware's Defender of the Crown as it wasn't sold for C64 in my country. Dual tapes and loading times that left plenty of time to contemplate life choices - like the fact that with inflation this cost ~$250 in modern money. 🤯

Really sad to see that there seems to be yet another wave of layoffs happening in games. What's happening to this industry?

So what's going on with VR these days? Is it dead? Is it not dead? Sleeping? In-between generations? Officially niche? Still waiting for that "killer app"?

It keeps being occasionally amazing in small doses, but it's hard to find a good reason to regularly strap the device to my head.

Discrete graphics cards have become so mature and bulky that GPU sag is now a term.

..and modern PC cases now come with crutches to support them.

Well, what's up is that I needed to install JetBrains Toolbox to grab a nightly build of one of their IDEs to test something, and realized that even after 8 years of existence you can still not move _or_ resize the toolbox window?

I'm normally a fan, but what the actual what?!?!?

I know it's never gonna last, but at least for now it's really refreshing to log on here and not immediately be bombarded with the latest clickbait nonsense from AI-bros or crypto and AI promotions filling half my feed.

I'm in a tiny, safe little gamedev bubble for now and I like it.

It’s a matter of perspective, I guess. People targeting standalone HMDs could argue the same for every rendering technique unsuitable for tiled based rendering, whereas people targeting Xbox don’t have much incentive to worry about VR but certainly need a better upscaler with DLSS unavailable.
