Normally the tails would come right after the head of the character is finished but this gave me a lot of issues- turns out an upright skunk tail has a lot more problems then the cute stripes.
The biggest issue was getting the shape right- that one took way too long, when a skunk tail is upright it needs to be able to be bent in multiple directions while also being thick on some sides. That was a mental mess to try to get right and I still think I could have done it even better but the current form works well.
Being upright it has a foam base with a aluminum bar as it's skeleton. Making a tail to go around that, as well as to be able to take it off that for storage or carrying to cons I had to add a zipper that would fit the big shape so there's one on the underside.
The top heavy nature of it required the belt structure to be a lot more heavy duty than originally planned. Adding to that, because of its weird shape it also likes to move on me weird when walking, which may need an extra thing at the top to just attach the top to me, which defeats the purpose of the skeleton.
The zipper being there does mean I can make it into a normal belted tail at any point too, which is nice.
In the future I don't think I will make another upright skunk tail unless I figure out something specific to help all those issues out, though I will do other upright ones as it works for skinnier but big upright tails that aren't as top heavy, and the foam base may actually be much easier to handle.
I still like the way it came out but I am glad this tail is out of the way and done!
Project 13 was an upright skunk tail.
This was a mess to do- namely the shape was a pain mentally. I like the way it came out but I do not know if I'll do another upright skunk tail in the future. Others I will but this took a lot of mental fortitude to get through.

A pile of colorful bandanas lay on a wooden floor. The bandanas strewn about have many different cartoon characters on it. The bottom two bandanas are flipped in a way that shows both sides of them to show they are double-sided.
My next project was back to bandanas. These were from my 3rd pattern
They are double sided & the buttons are reversible. The larger size plus the buttons lets both large & small people & fursuiters wear the bandanas
These were all given away to friends/for prizes at a convention

A keychain on a table. The keychain is connected to what is essentially faux fur that is layered tan with bluish-gray under in almost a coyote kind of fur coloring. It is in a shape of a canine tail. Next to it there is a pattern shaped almost like a deer tail, with markings on it. The table is also lined with pins and scissors from the crafts.
When prototyping a tail I ended up wanting to make little tail key chains using scraps of fur.
I made a coyote one I liked but I used short fur I bought. The fur scrap one I made looked bad so it's back to the drawing board on it.
This will be a project I come back to sometime.

Project 10 was a commission, a plush bag conversion for a gift
A basic project, the only weirdness was the plastic heart piece causing issues. Had to rearrange the tail and the wings for the bag to work too
A successful mini-project that I was able to do without much issue!

A collage of a skunk fursuit head showing off its details. It has wavy and layered pink and silver hair, a white dual stripe going up her nose, red eyes and hypno eyes, a movable muzzle and a hard black nose.
Project #9 was a big project- a new fursuit head.
Partially used to test out some new techniques and ideas, wanting to prove I can do it again, as well a character suit I've needed for a bit.
With her turning out well I will open for partials eventually.

Holding the bear bag out to show off the entire outer look from the front.
The inside with the bag's zipper open. It has denim lining.
The bag being worn like a purse and how it looks when sitting there
The bag when worn like a backpack
Project 7 was another stuffed animal bag. Unlike the last bag this was to be a purse w/ the ability to change into a backpack
The bear was a plush that was de-stuffed, lined with denim, w/ added zipper, straps & removable cushion for shoulder comfort & strap maintenance

These paws will eventually be given away as well. Probably not until after a few other test pieces too, like feet paws or some other parts to also give away.

Showing the hand sewn elastic for the wrist on the first test paw.
Showing the machine sewn edges on the second test paw. Was the first time using a machine.
The first test paw, after beans were added.
Both paws after they were finished. The machine sewn one may need more shaving. Will eventually be given away.
Projects 5 & 6 came from the pattern I made. Project 5 was a Test Paw only hand sewn. Project 6 was Test Paw only machine
Would look even better with a natural color but after the beans were added they looked like paws. And felt good with the dexterity attachments

All of these ideas/patterns and measurements for them will be included once I release the pattern. It'll still be a bit before then, need to do a few more tests and professionally make the pattern in a PDF. So a few more months.

Elastic attached to the hand paw, part of the pattern as "dexterity attachments". Hand is on top of fur, the fingers slid through the elastic
Showing the patterns, with the minky fur beans cut out from its own pattern
The biggest thing I like in it are what I'm calling dexterity attachments. They keep them from flopping about and falling out and keeps them in place
Also, made a pattern for beans, which can be either sewn on top or sewn in the middle of the paw pattern itself

Hand over a drawn out pattern of a hand on construction paper.
A cut out hand pattern for fursuit paws after using that construction paper pattern from the previous pic
The 4th project was a preamble to the next two projects and technically I was testing the idea through the next two: creating my own pattern for hand paws
The final pattern I made worked well, will need to adjust a few things, but it'll be released eventually!

Oh, haven't posted in a while. Whoops. Here comes the multi-posts over what Whisker Wonderworks has been up to!

Random question, does anyone have any recommendations for a sewing machine for fur?
My next suit will be my first try with a machine and I want one that won't make me curse with constant jams/whatever.
Budget up to $200 (b4 tax) as I'm okay if it'll break in a years, it's mostly for learning atm.

My third large project: A prototype stuffed animal bag.
Rescued a bunny plush from a thrift store and made her into something new and cuter than ever. There were things I still need to change/fix (the straps) but it worked well!

Whoa a tail!
Made in a few days, beating the clock to get ready for a convention, this was my second "big" project. Hardest part was the spots.
Tried to make the tail magnetic to let me use it without a belt- unfortunately the experiments were a bust. Still trying more soon!

My first fursuit head, made for (and by) Onyx Cheetah. Head fully finished September 22, 2023.
If you notice, the first picture is missing the eye lining- after looking at pics of her, she seemed sad. So I updated!
The cheek fluffs were added within days to give more definition.
