Today, we celebrate the 78th birthday of the U.S. Air Force. Thank you to everyone who has served and continues to serve our country. I also want to celebrate the Tuskegee Airmen whose heroism shaped history and the Air Force into what it is today.

My office has been in touch with Alabama State University and we will continue monitoring the situation. Keeping our students safe is the top priority. Local, state, and federal law enforcement are investigating these threats and actively looking for those responsible.

Every witness I questioned today at the House Ag subcommittee hearing on SNAP confirmed that Trump’s big, ugly bill gives states the power to cut off federal food assistance for everyone if the state does not cover the cost share. 

A very sad day in America.

Yesterday marked the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and its impact cannot be overstated. I joined the @splcenter.org last night to reflect on the battle for voting rights and discuss the urgent fight we are in now to ensure fair representation for all Americans.

Yesterday, I celebrated the 235th anniversary of the United States Coast Guard here in Mobile. Thank you to all who serve or have served in keeping us safe and protected through the years.

Spent time this week meeting with the Phenix City Housing Authority and the Water Treatment Plant leadership about the progress and needs in Phenix City and Russell County.

Today is National Intern Day! I want to shout out the amazing interns we had this summer: Jaleia, Braxton, and Vinya in DC, and Chasity in Montgomery. You all were incredible, and this is just the start. Thank you for being a part of the team! #nationalinternday

Busy week in Washington fighting for the people in my district. I’m looking forward to getting around the district in August and talking with people about how I’ve been standing up, pushing back, and working hard for District 2!

This week, I introduced the bipartisan Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Act. This bill would change the law so that rural and natural disaster prone areas are prioritized to receive funding to strengthen their critical infrastructure.

We introduced the Bipartisan Bridge Investment and Modernization Act today to help extend and increase funding for Bridge Improvement Programs through 2031. This can help complete many projects across America, like the 1-10 Bayway and Bridge in Mobile, and improve local infrastructure and economies.
