Busy week in Washington fighting for the people in my district. I’m looking forward to getting around the district in August and talking with people about how I’ve been standing up, pushing back, and working hard for District 2!

This week, I introduced the bipartisan Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Act. This bill would change the law so that rural and natural disaster prone areas are prioritized to receive funding to strengthen their critical infrastructure.

We introduced the Bipartisan Bridge Investment and Modernization Act today to help extend and increase funding for Bridge Improvement Programs through 2031. This can help complete many projects across America, like the 1-10 Bayway and Bridge in Mobile, and improve local infrastructure and economies.

I’m on the floor this morning supporting Leader Jeffries, who is speaking the truth about this trash bill. Republicans have the opportunity to do the right thing. But know that if they don’t, Dems will keep fighting for you because taking away health care from 17 million people ain’t right.

This big ugly bill is trash. It prioritizes the rich at the expense of everyday Alabamians and everyday Americans. That's why I’m voting no.

Protecting SNAP and Medicaid is not about politics. We are not in a position where we can’t afford it. We are spending almost $4 million on every trip that Donald Trump takes to Mar-a-Lago.
 
It’s not a question of resources. It’s a question of priorities.

Today, I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the hardwork and dedication Pike County is showing to prepare students to be the workforce of the future. The Troy-Pike Center for Technology and the Ag Academy at Goshen High School are creating real opportunities for students to be workforce ready!

This Administration needs to show leadership and work with both sides and our international partners to de-escalate this situation while ensuring a non-nuclear Iran. This cannot become a broader conflict that risks more lives and involves American troops.

Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran deal with no replacement allows Iran to get closer to having nuclear weapons, which threatens the security of Israel, the region, and the world.

On this Father's Day, I'm thankful for my own father and father figures who stepped up in my life after my dad passed. I wouldn't trade being a dad for anything in the world! Happy Father's Day to all the incredible dads and father figures out there. Enjoy your day!

Today, we remember all those who gave their life in defense of this country. I went to high school with Pfc. Howard Johnson Jr., who died in Iraq in 2003. To him and all those we've lost - and to everyone who ever served - we say THANK YOU.

Taking away access to Medicaid and SNAP for those who need it most just to benefit the very rich is not worth it, and it never will be. That’s why I voted no on the Republicans’ budget bill.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Rep. Gerry Connolly. He was truly a dedicated fighter and fierce advocate for his district and for federal workers. I’m praying for his family during this time.
