Excited that students from Spring Hill College visited my office in Washington, DC to discuss the issues they are passionate about. When young people get involved and make their voices heard, our communities are stronger for it.

SNAP update: Judge orders Trump administration to fully fund food stamps in November The judge gave the Trump administration until Friday to make the payments through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps.

Truly pathetic that a federal court has to force the Trump Administration to feed less fortunate children, elderly, veterans, and disabled people. A truly sad failure of leadership and compassion. Meanwhile, a $300M White House ballroom is the priority....truly can't make this stuff up.

Enjoyed visiting and learning more about Hooks Lake Port in Washington County. This is what my work on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is all about: supporting the infrastructure and industries that are critical to our District.

Had the chance to spend some time with Alabama’s future workers at the Montgomery Academy For Career Technologies. These kids will come out of high school ready for college or to start a career! This is what workforce development looks like!

Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This shutdown is the result of their failure.

September is #SickleCellAwarenessMonth. Today I spoke on the House floor to acknowledge the patients, advocates, and healthcare workers who are fighting this disease every day.

Today, we celebrate the 78th birthday of the U.S. Air Force. Thank you to everyone who has served and continues to serve our country. I also want to celebrate the Tuskegee Airmen whose heroism shaped history and the Air Force into what it is today.

My office has been in touch with Alabama State University and we will continue monitoring the situation. Keeping our students safe is the top priority. Local, state, and federal law enforcement are investigating these threats and actively looking for those responsible.

Every witness I questioned today at the House Ag subcommittee hearing on SNAP confirmed that Trump’s big, ugly bill gives states the power to cut off federal food assistance for everyone if the state does not cover the cost share. 

A very sad day in America.

I had a great time with Project Inspire and the Dumas Wesley Community Center. District 2 is full of incredible organizations working to keep our communities safe, and I'm extremely proud of all the work they’re doing.

Yesterday marked the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and its impact cannot be overstated. I joined the @splcenter.org last night to reflect on the battle for voting rights and discuss the urgent fight we are in now to ensure fair representation for all Americans.

A special thank you to the Mobile Chamber for having me at Forum Alabama to talk about how I’m working in Washington to deliver results back home.

Yesterday, I celebrated the 235th anniversary of the United States Coast Guard here in Mobile. Thank you to all who serve or have served in keeping us safe and protected through the years.

Spent time this week meeting with the Phenix City Housing Authority and the Water Treatment Plant leadership about the progress and needs in Phenix City and Russell County.

Gave the Washington Brief at the Montgomery Chamber discussing the work we’ve been doing since January to support Montgomery, the District, and the state.

Busy week in Washington fighting for the people in my district. I’m looking forward to getting around the district in August and talking with people about how I’ve been standing up, pushing back, and working hard for District 2!
