From some Australian sources, I believe the initial plan was going to be Rams-Seahawks in Australia.

But since I'd guess that logistically would be a Week 1 game because of the travel involved, having the Seahawks in the Super Bowl and potentially opening the season with a win changed the matchup

This is probably the best possible home game to move, takes away the Niner fans who go to Sofi every year...
