Also use iweb/Scottish widows. I also have a very small shares isa account with trading212, which currently pays a decent dividend on cash in the isa with no fees and no dealing charges. Covered by FSCS

This morning it just felt to me like the first couple of days of the covid sell-off, gradually then suddenly .. you know that saying. I am also quite tired of all the volatility. It has literally sapped my enthusiasm and energy. Here we go again ....

If anyone is interested, Alastair Kendall is a really good follow on substack @alchemist24 - private investor in Scotland, also posts as jamesalastair on Stockopedia discussions. He started writing articles about the mining and metals bull market in December and also cross posts others' articles.

It's a real dilemma. I feel the same, but in summer 2024 I remember saying, Americans will never elect Trump again. And when I see what they are doing to the poor folks of Minnesota, a few months ago I would never have imagined they could get away with that. Yet we do benefit from the ideas sharing.

Estonia has a population of about 350,000, though clearly they would have the support of neighbours, but they would then also be fighting on 2 fronts and I'm not sure how effective they have been on one so far. I guess how you feel depends on what sources of information you access.

So how can you be sure that the USA will not break with NATO, that they will not take Greenland by force and lead to escalation/break down in tension, that Russia will not at that point make an opportunistic move against one of the other former soviet states, and how would it all be then?

I'm interested that you guys are continuing to discuss the relative merits of these companies as though life is very normal. It feels anything but normal to me and I sold down a proportion of the family portfolios into cash today, albeit from having been fully invested.

Got a new laptop a year ago. I'm not technologically minded so somehow bn using yahoo/safari browser platform since then. Despite Xitter set to Following, I saw virtually no Fintwit posts all year. Assumed people had stopped posting. Just changed to Google and discovered Fintwit is still active.

I'm trying to be more aware of trends in '26. Held some good dividend payers, POLR, SNWS which I want to keep. Fund redemptions hammered small caps in '25. I'm hopeful some money flows back to the UK this year. Also am paying more attention to momentum and moving averages when buying.

Thanks for posting. Interesting. 2025 was v poor for me in portfolio growth and social media engagement. Gave up looking for any learning. The precious metals momo passed me by. I had too many UK small caps and still hold. Mid April, down 20%. Amazed to get back to about +0.03% at year end.

I was up it a few weeks ago the day after the Mello investor conference in Chiswick, good views, lovely colour and very quiet when I was there

Yes, had a good sized holding in #PEB and held in 4 family portfolios. I have reluctantly reduced quite heavily over the last 2 days, having not top-sliced at all the last time it hit this level. I hope it was a poor decision to reduce, but I still hold a small position.

I hold James. Had a large holding in 2023, sold out well, but bought back a smaller holding way too soon, which I've continued to hold for recovery. Discount to NTAV hopefully provides support at this level. I added a small amount last week, thinking maybe potential now for turnaround.

Which company is this?
FTSE 250 constituent. Since Sept '24 :
- shares in issue reduced by over 5.5%,
- diluted EPS forecast to increase by 9%
- share price reduced by 38% and still going down.
Debt about 2% of MC, trading on PE of just over 11.
New 52 week low today.

So you'll be buying your one share in time for next year's AGM then Steve?😉

Held,not continuously, since 2017, attracted to discount to NTAV and agree re potential benefit of relaxing of planning laws. Intrigued by shareholder register, attracted by the family angle. Solid balance sheet and decent dividend. Others concur re Stonebridge. Jealous re lunch. Chart encouraging.

Bought back a small position in #SYS1 a few days ago after selling last year when I felt the share price was 'up with events'. Full year results tomorrow. They have a quarter of the market cap as cash. I wonder what they will do with it? Hoping current trading is not too impacted by macro situation.

I hope Mello has proven useful for those investors who have been able to attend. Sadly I have had to miss this one. Its looking like a good week in the markets for holding it.

I was looking at my watchlist on Sharepad this afternoon, seeing #IHC and #ITM rising and wishing I held a share that was making that kind of a move, then just after 4pm from out of nowhere my wish was granted #IGR. It's been a while ...

Trying to understand price action this afternoon on a number of small cap and AIM shares. Was that shorts being closed?

How about GAMA? Not a day trade but tmrw is last day on AIM. Bn forced selling by funds which must hold AIM shrs. Now joining main index. Shld B in ftse 250 at end June and benefit from trackers buying. Buyback shrs cancelled, reducing no. of shares in issue. Gmn acq shld B pos. for profits this yr.

Very short-term the UK indices will also be affected by selling to crystalise losses (plenty of those) before the end of this tax year, the last trading day for doing that being this Friday.
