Sonic artwork used on the cover of SEGA's 1992 Summer Catalog.

A photo of legs shown from the front and side. Beside it, the words "let's simplify!" and a breakdown of the most basic rhythms found in those angles. For the front, it bellows outward as if bouncing against a surface. For the side, it dives back before adjusting at the knee and pulling forward towards the foot. And then sketches of the rhythms pushed so it's obvious where they are going and how they have gotten there

Expanding on that The same blue sketches of leg rhythms as before, but now there are a combination of straights and contrasting rhythms drawn overtop in red to show where we can find structure or smooth out our intense rhythms. Text reads "we add a mixture of straights and contrasting rhythms to focus on our big idea. This is based on underlying anatomy, structure." There is another sketch of this all pulled together in one drawing so that it can be seen how it all works together in a unified sketch rather than drawing overtop of an existing one, and a sketch of the basic leg anatomy showing structure of the knee and lower leg bones being overlapped by significant superficial muscles, with color coded arrows showing the contrasting rhythms and the structural straights

Start by pushing those broad rhythms to make your choices CLEAR. [a sketch of very pushed rhythms so that it's obvious where things are going. Pushed far beyond what we would see IRL]. Then, elaborate and describe. [The previous sketch turned red with lowered opacity, as new lines overtop show how I use those original rhythms as a basis for developing nuance without getting rid of the original lines] 1, 2, 3! [The two sketches put together in solid black, showing how even though lines seem to pull through and across each other the drawing is clear because it follows the underlying pushed rhythms.]
