Tim Cook, chief historian at Canadian War Museum, dies at 54 | CBC News Tim Cook, the chief historian at the Canadian War Museum and the country’s “pre-eminent military historian,” has died, the museum announced Sunday.

Devastated to hear of Tim Cook's passing today.

Dr. Cook inspired so many young historians in our field. He was always incredibly kind, generous with his time, and the biggest cheerleader for those working in history. He will be greatly missed by so many.

Before joining CP, Ecker was a journalist with the Vancouver Province, Calgary Herald & the British United Press. In 1943, she joined CP's small group of war correspondents in London. In 1945, she was the only woman to cover Germany's surrender & the only woman to witness the armistice signing. 2/2

Ecker was the only woman war correspondent for CP during the SWW and one of a handful of Canadian women who made it to the front as a verified journalist. 1/2
