Two years ago our friend Miron put up this pergola and my husband planted jasmine and roses to grow up it. My job, which I take very seriously, is to sit with a book, a glass of chilled rosé and admire it.

It looks like heaven and it feels like heaven living here but it’s actually Le Midi.

Hard to imagine, but this was taken 48 hours after we brought Raphael home last year. Rembrandt adopted him instantly.

We also rescued another whippet, Scramble. Here with Michael. He grew up in France, but moved to the UK when his owners divorced. He hated being left alone all day. He stopped eating. We took him in, but had to hire a dog psychologist for the three dogs. After that the dogs were fine. #dogsofbluesky

It can be quite hard to learn Dutch. Not because it’s a difficult language, it’s not (it’s a walk in the park compared to German) but because as soon as a Dutch person hears the accent they switch to English.

I lived there for 9 years and my husband is Dutch. Needless to day we speak only English at home.

The Dutch are the worst for that. They assume no foreigner speaks their language and can be really insulting about everyone around them. When I speak Dutch to them they often seem quite annoyed that a foreigner understands their secret code.

The first but not the last I hope.
