Yesterday we installed forty student drawings and paintings in our class shows at the Art Students League of New York. The exhibition opens tomorrow and runs through April 19. Reception is tomorrow night, 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Unfinished. Initially I painted Margot (on the left) leaning into her friend, but later decided I didn’t like it. Though Jamie was unavailable, Margot returned to the studio, and I repainted her in the present pose. More animated and a more interesting design.

Fascinating. I know of Muybridge’s experiments mostly through the parallel interests of Eakins. Which also reveal a brilliant and odd creative mind.

Self portrait painting

First painting in the new house. Messed around with this in front of the mirror for two hours last night and wasn’t crazy about it. Today I feel wobbly and am getting up only to eat, so that might explain the painting and my response to it.
