6, 7 and 14 are the peak storytelling of the series, and Rebirth is my fave game I’ve ever played.

15 and 16 have their shortcomings, but I love them dearly for what they are. I’m actually doing a 15 replaythrough atm, and I ache for it to have not been screwed. Matsuda you will never know peace.

I’ve not played all of the first five FFs myself, though I have researched them thoroughly in both story/gameplay (I got through like 90% of FF1 in one sitting two years ago, then I got distracted). But after that, everything else I’ve either dabbled or played the shit out of.

I think it’s interesting that after we started to heal the imbalance on both the First and the Thirteenth in 6.5, that it hasn’t even occurred to us to heal the Ninth. Maybe in 7.5 Y’shtola might suggest it, giving grounds for Halmarut to reveal herself and go “Hey you need to NOT do that actually”.

I imagine Halmarut will maybe be an ally for that reason, for most of the story? If anything, we could be put at odds for some reason in the third act? But essentially, I feel that Halmarut may end up taking Hydaelyn’s place as mother goddess, not of stasis or rampant activity, but stable growth.

Theorycraft yap time.

Halmarut seems to be suggesting that the absence of the “heart of the star” are causing the reflections to decay. I feel it’s ambiguous whether she’s referring to Zodiark or Hydaelyn, but I feel it’s the latter, and the lack of aetherial stasis.

I had a lot of theorycrafting about Ultima after 7.0 and the key, which some YT channel would wind up also theorising with even more evidence, so pretty confident 💪

I’ve had this thought for ages that Jenova would be a cool theme for a future eight-man raid series. Different forms from the Remake trilogy as different bosses throughout it.

I totally reckon Ultima is the big bad of the new saga tho.
