Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde. Defacto capital of Viking Denmark, the city was under threat of conquest by Harold Hadrada 1048-1066 to restore Cnuts empire. The Danes scuttled (these) ships offshore to block sea access to Roskilde. Hadrada died in 1066 at Hastings, marking the end of the viking age
