Wir treffen uns heute um 19 Uhr im Biergarten Jockel in Kreuzberg zum Stammtisch. Wir sehen uns am 4. September wie gewohnt zum regulären Meetup sehen.

Der Forschungsstand dazu „Wie Demokratien sterben“ ist eindeutig: Rechtsaußenparteien sind zwar wichtig, Demokratien gehen aber dann zugrunde, wenn sich Konservatismus radikalisiert. Ob die AfD an die Macht kommt, entscheidet nicht die AfD, sondern die Union. Und hier wachsen die Befürchtungen.

Anduril founder Palmer Luckey says the US should “expand our naval base on Guantanamo Bay into Liberty City [ie, a ‘freedom city’], an American Singapore of the Caribbean.” Anduril is backed by Tech Bros Peter Thiel & Marc Andreessen who support aspiring “network states” via Pronomos Capital. 1/

These zones function precisely because they are NOT isolated. The insulation from common ground (also in terms of legal and regulatory frameworks) appears as a ‚supposed isolation‘ - when in fact these zones are dependent and built upon exploitative labor relations.

In other words: residency and deportation decisions with „no labyrinthine state courts involved“ are made contingent on economic productivity — specifically, how useful migrants are as laborers.

"the hypothetical city could house migrants who wish to move to the U.S., keeping them under surveillance for a “probationary period” while “evaluating their contributions to the local economy and society.”"

Another instance of tech-libertarian ‚Politics of Isolation': a semi-autonomous high-tech zone exempt from federal law, regulations and taxes - this time imagined as a proving ground for migrants seeking entry into the U.S.
