Okay, now we're near the end of September, update on this:

While I have made SIGNIFICANT progress, this game still isn't quite ready for that playable alpha I was aiming for. I'll be taking another month and we'll see how that goes.

Thank you! I spent a long time getting them to work right (and tbh they're still missing a lot of functionality lol) so I'm glad to hear the work is paying off ^-^

Excited to share that, by the barest definition of the word, we finally have Gameplay. It's janky and needs work, but two characters can move around (even more than shown), block attacks, get hit, and "die" (disable their input). Still hard to believe it honestly x.x

Just spent like 8 hours playing silksong, gonna go to bed so I can wake up, get my work done, work on my game a little, and then play more silksong lol

on the plus side, the recent news is motivating me to try and fight my social anxiety long enough to at least try and go to an offline local. I know there's at least one decent sized one but I've always been too anxious and scared to go. We'll see if it works out this time. x.x

🔔Quick look at Battle Queen Development Progress

As we have seen previously, this is waifu fighter from a Korean developer, IX9. As of now, it seems they have 10 fully playable characters, from a roster of 12

Despite the obvious fan-service, the character designs are actually really cute and cool!

I may post art of the characters from time to time, as they'll be a good source of practice, but don't expect anything else until further notice once the prototype releases. I might even make a smaller game with the setting. Whatever the case, you'll know when I return (and I WILL return to it).

After that is done, development on the game will probably go dark for a little while. I've come to accept that I really need to refine my skills in other areas if this game is going to be as great as I envision it, including my illustration, my animation, and my overall dev skill.

If I can squeeze it in, I'll try to get local multiplayer and a basic CPU working so people can test things out better, but I make no promises on whether those things will get done, but know that I will do my best.

Next month I will be focusing on the game as much as possible to get a playable prototype working. It won't at all represent the aesthetics of the final game, but god willing it will give at least a sense of the mechanics. It'll have one character, a basic training stage, and that's pretty much it.
