I don't think I need to tell anyone that I fell off hard on this whole plan haha I realize now that I spent way too much time trying to make this something I needed to work on. Art should be a passion, not an obligation. So here's to 2026. Let's pursue passions, not work.

I got myself a bit overwhelmed, but I think if I scale things back I can get back into the swing of things. Mixed some positive affirmations into the sketch sheet too!

Real talk tho, I have done this with most everything I do. Even as a streamer (shhh) I just sorta threw myself into it, but that's a bit easier. You just get the software you need, get set up, hit the "go live" button, play games, and yap! Art is a little more complicated than that as it turns out.

So I think I've recognized a bad pattern that I have! I tend to very enthusiastically throw myself into my passions and want to do so much. While I did some cool stuff, I also rushed my progress, so I wanted to take a step back and go back to basics (like I should have) so here we are!

I'm hoping that with more time and structure I'll be able to enjoy art again and really throw myself into it. I hope I'll have more for you all soon, but it might be another bit. Til the next time. /End

I guess I'm having trouble with my feelings toward art and my vision. It's not even that I'm comparing myself to those with more experience, I'm comparing myself to me. What I can say is that I'm in the process of improving my work-life balance. /3

There was something exciting about delving into my old sketches and trying to recapture that feeling. Somehow I felt like my new sketches were inferior in a sense to the old ones. It's hard to explain, but I think it comes from the fact that my old sketches were done entirely for the sake of art. /2

I've been profoundly silent on this account. Unfortunately life has just been really difficult lately. I sat down and opened up the last sketch sheet I was working on and realized that I don't think I want to continue it. I was excited at first because it was a study of my old chibis. /1

I realize I haven't updated here. Work has been eating up my life and it's hard to get the energy to draw even when I really want to. If my schedule can balance out then I'll try to get some drawing time in. I'm gonna try to get an early, structured start on Sunday so I can get some time.

So this might be my favorite study I've done so far and I can't wait to finish off some of the sketches I've been doing so that I can share them! This will hopefully be something that brings me closer to posting more frequent original drawings.

So hilarious discovery I made:

Last time I drew was pencil/pen and paper like 10-12 years ago. I found one of my first ever sketch pages and I had doodled little notes and quips on it like I have in the ones I posted here. This is a TREND that goes back a long time for me lmaoooo.

I also started working on something to throw up as a little author avatar for my pfp, but some major drama at work dried up my creative juices. I'll have something out some approximation of soon.

Spent a long time on this and it's the first full piece I've done since getting back into art after all these years, but it felt good to do it! I was originally just gonna do a style study on Fox, but I was scrolling through and saw this and something inside me said:

Go for it. You got this.

I was just about to make a post about how I wrapped up that project then realized I missed one part of the coloring, but it's 2:20am and this is literally something I can finish in no time tomorrow. I need mimis!

Alright, I've got the lining pretty much set. I'm gonna get the coloring done hopefully tomorrow depending on how hard work is. I'm really excited with this one tho! I'm putting pretty much everything I know into this and it's basically gonna be my first big piece-well, big for me anyways!

Alright, the weekend is over and I've got my tablet out so I'm gonna get back to it! I'm looking forward to getting a lot done today.

I promise you I'm not playing games when I say that I've been juggling final preparations for an event that I'm responsible for which has severely cut into art time. I tried getting into it, but I got too much on my mind. Next week I promise I'm setting aside time for art. You're gonna love it!

Okay, it was perhaps a bit ambitious to think I could finish this today, BUT!

I've made quite a bit of progress and I'll keep working at it. It's all a matter of building the skills like training a muscle. It gets easier the more you do it.

Not finishing it tonight because it's late, but I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow while my partner is at work so I can post it before we go out for Valentine's dinner.

Tell me why I suddenly had the motivation to draw tonight and decided to jump the difficulty up like 5 notches out of nowhere. It's a bit wild, but the reckless abandon I'm throwing myself into art with is liberating. I just don't care if what I'm doing is going to be hard on me. I WANT TO MAKE ART.

To quote Kurt Vonnegut, "We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down."

Also, I might finally make something I want to use as a pfp and thank fuck for that!

Plus side, I've had a lot of ideas and I'm thinking that I'm gonna want to draw some stuff from imagination instead of just drawing from reference like I have been. Even if it's not great, it won't matter, because it's just a step along in the process and I'm happy to be here taking my shots at it.

Sorry for the repeated radio silence! I keep meaning to sit down and draw, but I keep feeling tired and burnt out from work. I'm trying to get a nice hard reset on my mental and with tomorrow being a 9-hour workday I think it's best to make some coffee Friday morning and start making something then.

I was legitimately gonna draw tonight, but then I nearly froze to death trying to get some Raising Cane's and now I just wanna eat and warm up my fingers and toes.

It was honestly really fun (tho I wish I'd noticed how thin some of my lines were earlier, the EYES! BRUH!) It was interesting getting into hair detail and highlights which was something I'd not really done before. Also I drew most of a torso! Art referenced linked below bsky.app/profile/grs2...

A style study of gae girl art? Bruh.

I've always found there's a beauty and a supreme elegance in simpler styles. I was checking out some silly gae comics and realized that I wanted to do a style study of @grs22.bsky.social and see how it felt and what I could pick up from it.

scales, but I don't want that to become my entire image. Also! I currently have some music going and CS Paint open so I'll be doing some sketching/art studies. I've been in a bad place mentally, but I'm gonna make some cool stuff happen! 2/2

I figure it's best to do this while I'm still small, but I felt like my old handle was needlessly specific and I felt like RiddleMeArt has a bit more character, builds off my name, and doesn't imply that I'm looking to specialize into something narrow. I do still want to learn to draw feathers 1/2

Also because I think I deserve it, I happened to see this while posting that update and was surprised by how good the middle lower hand actually looks. I was a bit tired when I ended the sketches, but it's pretty good honestly. I was cooking a bit last time and I deserve to say it.
